Management changes at Messe Friedrichshafen create closer connection between aviation and classic vehicles events
One is leaving, and the other is taking his place: “We’re undertaking a seamless, internal transformation,” declares Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann. As he assumes his new responsibilities at Messe Friedrichshafen, Roland Bosch (50) perceives “an ideal thematic connection between two major international events”, referring to the fact that both are aviation-related. In April, he becomes project manager of the Klassikwelt Bodensee vintage cars, aircraft and watercraft trade show, and a month later, he takes over as head of the AERO Friedrichshafen international aviation trade show, whose original concept he once developed. “AERO Friedrichshafen is Europe’s leading general aviation exhibition, and we have every intention of maintaining and building on this status in the future,” Wellmann pointed out.
Bosch now replaces Thomas Grunewald, AERO’s previous project manager, who has moved on to new responsibilities in the guest events and business development departments. “New tasks offer new challenges and revitalize our efforts,” emphasized Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann, who relied very specifically on the expertise and experience within his management team in carrying out the change.
As a result of the recent change,
Roland Bosch, 50, who was previously the head of guest events and business development department, will take charge of AERO FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Europe’s largest general aviation trade show, beginning in May 2010. Bosch had been previously responsible for this event until 2001. He will also head ‘the electric avenue’ sustainability mobility expo (also known as ‘tea’) and the Pferd Bodensee equestrian trade show. Bosch, who joined Messe Friedrichshafen in 1988, is greatly looking forward to the challenge of building on the success of these events.
Thomas Grunewald, 36, was previously in charge of AERO, Pferd Bodensee and HAM RADIO/HAMtronic, and will take over Bosch’s former position as head of the guest events and business development departments. He has been working for Messe Friedrichshafen since September 2001, and will be drawing on his long experience of organizing guest events in his new role.
