With its 3409ft of elevation, Asiago Airport is the highest airport in Italy and among the highest in Europe. It is situated on a large plateau in the southern Alps and has two runways long over 1.100 meters (one in asphalt an the other in grass for gliders).
During the winter you fly over a snowy mountain scenery finding the runway always in perfect condition with clean asphalt. The topography also offers the perfect conditions for gliding from mid-March until the end of October.
Not far from the airport is the picturesque town of Asiago that together with the other seven Municipalities on the plateau is the perfect destination for sports vacations, relaxing holidays. Asiago offers many cultural, food and wine events as well.
The plateau area is know as for its hiking, orienteering, mountain biking, alpinism and mountaineering trails.
Northeast of Asiago you can find Campomulo, a Nordic Ski Center that with the others plateau centers has over 500 km of ski slopes: the biggest European district.
Asiago is therefore your ideal destination to practice skiing, ski mountaineering, hockey, ice skating or play golf at one of the most beautiful areas of the continent.
If you prefer to relax you can reach the huts of the surrounding mountains or spend some pleasant afternoon in the wellness centers scattered in beautiful resorts around the area.
The plateau is also full of culture and history with several historical monuments of the Great War: the old restored trenches, forts, museums and the impressive memorial arch monument overlooking the city.
Last but not least don’t miss to enjoy some of the finest food in Norther Italy: savor the world famous Asiago cheese by itself or used in many typical mountain recipes, with mushrooms, polenta and meat.
