Success in the introduction of e-mobility in general aviation will depend greatly on the range and charging time of the aircraft. The energy density and charging time of existing high-voltage battery systems for electric aircraft are currently preventing extensive market introduction. The EBSAL project aims to demonstrate an alternative for battery-electric aircraft propulsion systems; it will develop a fuel cell propulsion system that allows practical, zero-emission operation during takeoff and cruise.
