FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany, March 18, 2026 - - Aviation safety technology company SkyRecon is highlighting a persistent challenge in general aviation airspace: pilots using conventional ADS-B receivers see only a fraction of the traffic around them.

European general aviation airspace operates across a patchwork of electronic conspicuity protocols. Aircraft equipped with ADS-B transponders broadcast on 1090 MHz or 978 MHz, but gliders, ultralights, paragliders, and drones often transmit on entirely different systems, including FLARM, OGN, ADS-L, FANET, or PilotAware, among others. A receiver tuned to ADS-B alone cannot detect these aircraft, leaving significant gaps in a pilot's traffic picture.

SkyRecon's portable ADS-B receiver is designed to consolidate this fragmented traffic data into a single view on its built-in round LCD display. The device receives dual-band ADS-B traffic directly through its own antennas and supplements that data with over 30 additional traffic sources through its integrated SafeSky capability. The result is a more complete representation of nearby traffic, rendered on-screen with aircraft identifiers, relative altitude, and range rings.

The device is battery-powered, requires no aircraft installation, and outputs traffic data via Wi-Fi using the GDL90 protocol for pilots who also use ForeFlight, SkyDemon, EasyVFR, or other compatible navigation applications.

SkyRecon will be demonstrating the device at AERO Friedrichshafen 2026 (April 22-25) at booth A6-310. The portable ADS-B receiver is available for pre-order at https://www.skyrecon.net/, with deliveries expected to begin in Summer 2026.
