The aviation trade show AERO (April 17 to 20, 2024) is taking-off. At the AERO Media Day prior to the show opening, journalists from around the world used the opportunity to find out about the state of the industry. The exhibitors surprised the attendees with two premieres. From today, the innovative strength of the industry will be presented to trade fair visitors.
AERO 2024 is the 30th edition of the leading international trade fair for general aviation, air sports and business aviation. The trade fair began in 1977 with 14 exhibitors, initially as a biennial event. With the special exhibition “AERO Heritage Trail”, the trade fair organizer fairnamic GmbH shows the history of AERO and its exciting development.

Leonardo Helicopters exhibits the latest version of the successful AW139 helicopter and its evenly successful AW109 at AERO 2024. The AW139 – exhibited at the static display – is powered by two PT6C-67C engines from Pratt & Whitney Canada. To date, the manufacturer has logged over 1,300 orders for the AW139 from 290 customers in 80 countries in its order book. Leonardo Helicopters has delivered over 1,000 of this helicopter type to date and the global AW139 fleet has accumulated over three million flight hours. The AW139 is supported by advanced digital capabilities for maintenance and training, both in terms of fleet flight data management and simulation for pilots, technicians and cabin crews.
The AW109 GrandNew responds to the market demand for a helicopter that blends performance, speed, payload and operational flexibility, together with lower environmental impact. Duc Hélices

World Champion Stefan Langer
Soaring has been an important segment of AERO since the very beginning. In addition to a diverse range of impressive flying machines, visitors can also meet Grand Prix World Champion Stefan Langer at his stand with adjoining Creator Lounge. He will have his new AS 33 Me glider from Alexander Schleicher with him. The competition glider with an 18-meter wingspan and electric drive system is a real eye-catcher. Fans will also have the opportunity to talk to Stefan and other creators and take photos at the Meet & Greet every day at 02:00pm.
Junkers Aircraft GmbH
Junkers Aircraft presents its latest model, the Junkers A50 Heritage ultralight aircraft at AERO 2024, as well as the Junkers A50 Junior, the Junkers A60 and the WACO YMF-5 biplane.
At the AERO Media Day, Junkers Aircraft has unveiled the Junkers A50 Heritage. It is an ultralight aircraft that has been reconstructed true to the original design from the 1920s. In contrast to the Junkers A50 Junior, the Junkers A50 Heritage is equipped with a 7-cylinder radial engine (Verner Scarlett 7U / 124 hp) which, together with an MT wooden propeller and analog instruments, offers an even more authentic flying experience. The Beringer brakes and the Galaxy rescue system have been adopted from the A50 Junior and are standard equipment.
Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH
Diamond Aircraft Industries from Wiener Neustadt, Austria, debuts the all-electric eDA40, which will be the first EASA/FAA CS/Part 23 certified electric aircraft in its category. With fast DC charging enabling short recharge times, it is an exceptionally sustainable aircraft for tomorrow's flight school market. The targeted flight time is 1.2 hours, the payload 397 lbs and the range 117 nautical miles.
The eDA40 is a further development of the existing and certified DA40 series and is intended to be the most environmentally friendly way to learn to fly in the future. Outstanding features:
