Accident data from 2025 and early 2026 shows that human factors, not aircraft capability, remain the dominant cause of fatal events in both general and business aviation, with 2025 marking the sector’s marking the highest numbers in more than a decade.
In this session, Christian Theuermann examines how modern, competency focused training approaches – including simulation, gamification, home based procedure trainers and online learning ecosystems – can directly strengthen pilot decision-making, situational awareness and error management. Attendees will learn how these emerging technologies address the human factor vulnerabilities behind recent accidents and how they can make every day flying significantly safer.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognise the key human factor gaps highlighted by recent 2025–2026 accident trends in GA and business aviation.
- Apply modern, technology supported training methods, such as simulation, gamification and virtual procedure trainers, to improve pilot judgment and workload management.
- Integrate practical, evidence based habits into pre flight and in flight routines using accessible home training and online learning tools to strengthen situational awareness and reduce operational risk
